Sean has over 18 years’ experience working within the construction industry. He graduated from The University of Queensland in 1999 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree with first class honours. During his studies Sean was awarded the inaugural $20,000 Barclay Mowlem (now Laing O’Rourke) scholarship and subsequently spent several summer breaks working with their Brisbane team.
Upon completion of his degree Sean decided that he had a passion for structural design and commenced employment with Bonacci Group. After several years working as a design engineer at Bonnacci Group he decided to expand his knowledge and move to England. He quickly secured a position at WSP in Bury St Edmonds and was working as the structural designer for numerous residential and commercial projects throughout the UK. After 12 months Sean moved to Manchester and took up a position with Thomasons Engineers and was the design engineer for a 5 storey structural steel apartment block in Manchester.
On leaving England in late 2003 Sean decided to join Cairns Steel Fabricators. He quickly worked his way into the General Managers position and subsequently became a director in July 2009. Sean has a passion for structural steel and is dedicated to improving efficiencies and providing cost effective supply solutions.
Mel Yelaska has been instrumental in driving the growth of CSF Industries for nearly 40 years.
Although now retired from operational aspects, he is still actively involved in guiding the strategic direction of the business and can still regularly be found tinkering in the expansive workshops.
Mel has forged relationships with his customers that span the entire history of the business and it is his commitment to delivering the best in quality and service that underpins the success of what was originally Cairns Steel Fabricators and now is a multi-divisional operation.
Starting out with a ute and a vision, early projects for Cairns Steel Fabricators were centred around boat building before broadening into domestic and then commercial construction.
His absolute commitment to productivity and ensuring that systems and procedures were in place to support a consistent output saw the business grow organically both in terms of number of clients and reach across the industry.
While customer growth was organic and built on a sold reputation, the strategic diversification that has led to the establishment of CSF Industries and its many divisions today has largely been a result Mel’s commitment to creating solutions to the problems confronting him and his consistent desire to offer the best, most reliable and most efficient service to all his customers.
